Campaign targeting is the process of defining your target audience. By specifying what type of users you want to see your ad, you maximize your ad’s ability to reach the right people at the right time.
You can target different groups based on Location, Demographic, and Interests & Behaviors in the New Campaign form.
How To Use Campaign Targeting
Your approach will depend on the type of audience you want to reach.
If you want to reach the widest possible audience, select fewer and broader options to include as many audiences as possible.
If you want to reach a specific audience (examples: only women interested in documentaries or an audience in a specific zip code), selecting more options allows you to narrow in on your ideal audience.
Be aware that selecting more targeting options will reduce the size of your audience. Selecting multiple elements is an excellent way to reach niche audiences, but adding too many elements can make the audience overly restrictive. For example, targeting TV viewers who are in California AND male AND ages 18-24 will create a smaller audience than one created from selecting just male AND California.
Location Targeting
Location targeting lets you target your ad to specific states, cities, zip codes, and designated market areas (DMAs). This is located in the States and DMAs section of the New Campaign form. By default, Samsung Ad Manager sets campaigns up to reach audiences in all of the USA.
You can select one or multiple of each location category depending on how broad or narrow you want your audience to be.
Sample location targeting options:
Campaign reach type | Sample location targeting |
---|---|
Broad | United States (Country), Texas, Florida, New York, (States), All (Cities), All (Zip Codes) |
Moderate | Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles (Cities), All (Zip Codes) |
Niche | 90210 (Zip Codes) |
Demographic Targeting
Demographic targeting lets you select the age, gender, and language spoken of your desired audience.

Interests and Behaviors Targeting
Use the Interests and Behaviors section of the New Campaign form to target audiences with interests and behaviors that are in line with your ad. Check out the major interest and behavior categories below.
Entertainment and Media: Use these categories to define the audience you want to target based on 20+ categories of TV viewership, sports, program genres, seasonal content, and travel, leveraging signals from Samsung TV (linear and in-app data) and Samsung Mobile Data.
Purchase Intent: Use these categories to target audiences who are exposed to content from verticals like CPG, Auto, and retail based on signals from Samsung Mobile Data.
Device Information: Use these categories to target audiences who are exposed to specific Samsung devices like MVPDs or streaming devices.
Lifestyle: Use these categories to target audiences with specific fitness/health, education, or language preferences based on signals from Samsung Mobile Data.
Select one interest or behavior to target your campaign specifically to viewers with that interest, or select multiple interests to target your campaign to viewers from multiple groups.
